Remedies - Menstruation

During the menstruation cycle, it is common to experience fatigue and craving for rich and greasy food. The reason is because our body is giving us the signal that we need more nutrients and energy. We should however avoid greasy and spicy food during this period.  The two recipes that I am sharing for this week are super simple and easy to make especially when one doesn’t feel like doing anything.

One should eat salmon which is high in Omega-3s fatty acids and can reduce the intensity of period pain, and stop your craving for greasy food. It is common to experience a dip in your iron levels during your period, particularly if your menstrual flow is heavy. This can lead to fatigue, bodily pain, and dizziness. Leafy spinach can boost your iron level and is also rich in magnesium which can lessen the fatigue symptoms. The pasta sauce is light and creamy and matches well with the delicate nutty taste of the pasta which is made of Spelt flour and spinach.

We should avoid high sugar foods but usually we will crave chocolate during this period. So, I strongly recommend this Mint Chocolate Shot that comes with natural fruit extracts to relieve your PMS symptoms. Mint can relieve menstrual cramps and nausea by balancing the hormones.

PECORINO TRUFFLE SALMON OVER SPINACH TAGLIATELLE

INGREDIENTS:
4 pieces Salmon Fillets (about 100gm each)
100gm Baby Spinach
20 cherry tomatoes (halved)
1 Bag Biona Organic Spelt Tagliatelle (Spinach)
1 Bottle Difatti Tomato & Mascarpone Sauce
1 Tsp oil
1/2 Tsp Absolute Organic Basil
1/4 Tsp salt and Pepper
Peppermint leaves
Dashes and dashes of Retartu Pecorino & Truffle Powder

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Place Biona Organic Spelt Tagliatelle in a pot of boiling water with dash of salt for 4 minutes. Stir from time to time. Strain and keep some pasta water.
2. Season the salmon with salt, pepper and Absolute Organic Basil. Pan fry the salmon for about 2 minutes in high fire and don’t touch it until it is ready to flip over. Pan fry for another minute before setting it aside on plate.
3. Turn off the fire. Pour the Difatti Tomato & Mascarpone Sauce in the same pan which has the drips from the salmon and put a ladle of pasta water. Put the strained pasta over the sauce in the pan. Turn the fire to medium, add the tomatoes and spinach in as well. Just stir it with a tong or spatula and cook it until all the pasta is coated with the sauce. It takes only a minute or two and it is ready to serve on plate and it yields 4 servings.
4. Place the salmon over the pasta on the plate. Garnish with peppermint and sprinkle the fragrant Retartu Pecorino & Truffle Powder over it.

Note: One can air fry or bake the salmon if you prefer it that way.
