Terre Francescane mono-varietal extra virgin olive oil is produced with just one variety of olive – Moraiolo. It is the first plant to have been cultivated on the hills by the Franciscan friars in the year 1000. Its name, also called “Muraiolo” derives from “muro”, because it is a plant that can grow and produce even on rocky and impervious soils. The olive produced by the Moraiolo plant is small and produces a very low quantity of oil, but with a strong aroma.
